Sentence sturcture (REVISION)

This video is not very appealing, but it is a good REVISION of the concepts tackled in class.



HOW TO STUDY FROM THE VIDEO:

  • Watch it carefully and take down notes,
  • Copy the examples,
  • create NEW examples in the licght of the theory,
  • watch the video (Audio OFF) and try to provide the same/similar explanations,
  • compare the contents of the video with the theory/practice seen in class,
  • highlight what is NEW and copy it on your folders.

    *SUBJECT:person or thing that does sth.
    *VERB:action.
    *OBJECT:a person or thing that receives the action of a verb.

    In English the word order is more important
    SUBJECT+VERB+OBJECT
    He passed the exam
    EXAMPLES OF BASIC SENTENCE STRUCTURE
    1° SUBJECT+VERB
    I was studying.
    They didn´t go.
    He sings.
    2° SUBJECT+VERB+OBJECT
    I made a cake.
    burglars broke the window.
    I love music.
    3° SUBJECT+VERB+ADJECTIVE
    flowers are sweet.
    The suitcase is heavy.
    Most food are delicious.
    4° SUBJECT+VERB+ADVERB
    It´s probably.
    You can turn left here.
    She makes quickly.
    5° SUBJECT+VERB+NOUM
    Days are numbers.
    I want a coffee.
    He visited Rome.
    IMPORTANT:
    *ADJECTIVES DESCRIBE A NOUN
    *ADVERBS DESCRIBE A VERB.
